Getting set up
Get set up: forward your line to Howdyly
Two ways to go live
Pick whichever fits how you run your phone today.
Option A: keep your current number (most common)
You keep the number your customers already know. You forward it to your Howdyly number, so every call that comes in is answered by Howdy. Nothing on your cards, website, or Google listing changes.
Option B: use your Howdyly number as your main line
If you are just getting going, you can put the Howdyly number itself on your website, business cards, and Google Business Profile and skip forwarding entirely.
Forward your existing number
- 1Find your Howdyly number in your portal under Numbers.
- 2Open the one page setup guide we send you. It has the exact steps for your specific phone carrier.
- 3Turn on call forwarding to your Howdyly number. Choose forward all calls so nothing is missed, or forward only when unanswered or busy if you still want to grab some yourself first.
- 4Save, and you are done. Howdy starts answering immediately.
Not sure how to forward on your carrier?
Make a test call
This is the last step before going live, and it is the fun one. Howdy will answer exactly the way it will for your real callers.
- 1From your own cell phone, call your business line (or your Howdyly number).
- 2Talk to Howdy like a customer would. Ask about your hours, your prices, or try to book.
- 3Hang up, then check your lead email and your portal. You should see the call, a summary, and a recording.
Put your number to work
Once Howdy is answering, make sure every caller reaches it.
- Add the number to your website and contact page.
- Put it on your Google Business Profile so searchers tap to call it.
- Use it on business cards, trucks, signage, and ads.
