When Howdy passes a call to a human
Howdy handles most calls from start to finish. When a caller truly needs a person, Howdy hands off gracefully and makes sure you get there with the full context, so no one has to repeat themselves.
Set your escalation number
In your portal, open Settings → Escalation and add the phone number a live call should go to. That can be your cell, a partner, or an answering service. This is the number Howdy uses when a caller needs a human.
What a handoff looks like
- Howdy tells the caller it is connecting them, then transfers to your escalation number.
- If you cannot pick up, Howdy stays with the caller, takes a detailed message, and offers to book or follow up.
- Either way, you get a summary of what the caller wanted, so you are never starting cold.
Missed and after hours calls
You decide when Howdy is on. It can answer around the clock, follow a schedule, or be paused. Even outside your hours, Howdy still greets the caller, captures who they are and what they need, and saves the lead to your portal so you can call back first thing.
- 1Choose your hours and on or off behavior in your portal settings.
- 2Set the escalation number you want urgent calls to reach.
- 3Make a test call after hours to feel exactly what your callers will get.
Keep your escalation number current
If your cell or your after hours contact changes, update it in Settings the same day. A quick test call confirms transfers are landing where you expect.
